I invite you to bring to mind a big decision that you’re facing right now (a little one works, too).

Then, ask yourself the following questions—What does my gut say about this decision? What is my intuition telling me?

If you aren’t quite sure what your gut or intuition feel like, that’s entirely understandable. There are so many descriptions of intuition out there, and it can be a subtle, fleeting presence that can be hard to track at first. However, like a huntress learning to track down her prey, you can learn to be masterful at following your gut. Here are a few clues to be on the look out for when tracking intuition—

  1. Your intuition may be like a quiet inner compass that says, “You’re exactly where you need to be,” or “Turn left… Turn right,” or “Danger!  You’re heading into a brick wall!” or “Just take a few steps forward, easy does it, almost there now.”
  2. You may sense that your intuition lives in a particular area of your body. This could be your forehead, where some traditions say the “third eye” is located. Or, you may feel it in your lower belly. Or even in your legs and feet, which may have a sense of wanting to move to a real or figurative space or time.
  3. Intuition is usually unemotional, like a subtle, deep-voiced “Yup” / “Nope” that simply tells you which direction to go in. Of course, you may feel emotion—excitement, fear, trepidation—in response to what your gut is telling you, but this emotion is usually a response to your intuition, rather than your intuition itself.
  4. It may help you to envision your intuition as your Wiser Self, an older, wiser version of yourself who can lovingly guide you to where you need to go.

Learning to listen to and trust the information that arises within you in every moment is one of the most important steps you can take to creating the life you want.

When you learn to listen to your intuition on a moment by moment basis, you stop wasting time. Because you know, deep down, what is best for you, you can give yourself permission to stop ruminating. Life becomes way more efficient. And, if you need your mind to formulate a strategy to bring you in the direction of your calling, it has a much easier time playing the role of ally, instead of running in circles trying to figure out what to do.

So, how about you? What are the telltale signs of your intuition? How do you know what your intuition is saying?  I’d love to hear from you below!
