The lives of community leaders, organizers, and activists are full of stressors.

Without practices to soothe our nervous systems when we’re stressed or when the intensity of work invariably activates our habitual patterns, we’re apt to react in ways that we later regret.

To create the changes we wish to see in the world—and stay engaged for the long haul—we need reliable practices to shift from feeling tired to energized, anxious to calm, scattered to grounded, in our heads to in our bodies.

Although many people think that feeling better requires drastic measures, some of the most potent practices take only seconds or minutes. By dedicating this time, we can shift from reacting with less-than-helpful patterns to making conscious decisions that benefit ourselves and our communities.

And because our bodies speak louder than our words, when we show up calm and centered, we can affect the whole room.

If you’re longing for free support to help you access greater ease, energy, and efficacy, I invite you to join me for Somatic Practices for Social Change.

Hi! I’m Katherine (she/her).

As a solidarity activist and student organizer in my teens and early twenties, I had no practices to nourish my body, and I lived on the brink of burnout.

Then, a series of wake-up calls convinced me to turn my ship around. I embarked on a journey to discover practices to help me relieve my anxiety, listen to my body, and show up in a way I felt proud.

Fourteen years later, I still rely on these practices to sustain my energy as I run my coaching practice, serve as a city councilor, and show up for my son, partner, community, and myself.

For over a decade, I’ve taught these practices to hundreds of changemakers as a career clarity and leadership coach, and I’ve witnessed how these practices consistently help my clients heal burnout, increase impact, and find joy in the long haul.

I’m honored to share some of these practices with you through my free practice portal—Somatic Practices for Social Change.

Testimonials from Somatic Coaching Clients

Katherine helped me to feel emotions again. Emotions like gratitude, joy, and curiosity. She helped me unearth my personal intuition. I discovered that my body had wisdom and a language that I had ignored for many years. I used to think that self-compassion and mindfulness practices were self-indulgent luxuries, but I discovered that they are critical in allowing me to care well for others.

Ylfa Perry

I am now so much kinder to myself, and I comfort myself when I feel discomfort. I developed the courage to put myself out there and try things that I wouldn’t have tried in the past because I was afraid of disappointing myself. I trust that I have the practices I need to support my vision for a long time to come.

Oriana Falkowski

It is amazing how different I feel now. I’ve sighed a huge breath of relief. I’ve lifted a weight from my body, and I have a physical sense of freedom and openness in my being.

Annique Sampson

I reconnected with my body and learned how to identify what I need and what feels right. I’ve gotten much better at not taking on everything myself and trusting other people to do things that I used to feel obligated to do.

Abby Tassel

After years of feeling creatively stagnant, it’s like the dams have opened and my creative energy is flowing freely and abundantly. I feel energized about my mission, excited to share through my marketing, and confident that I can steer my business forward as it continues to grow and expand.

Elena Mamatas

Katherine helped me reconnect with my intuitive side, become more aware of the things that trigger me, and choose responses to those triggers that serve me in the long run. I feel more grounded, self-aware, and energized to take on new challenges!

A Free Practice Portal for Folks Engaged in Social Change

Soma is a Greek word that means the body in its wholeness: body, mind, emotions, spirit as one. A somatic practice is any body-based practice that helps us embody the shape of the person we’re called to be, soothe our nervous system, or tune into our body’s guidance.

Somatic Practices for Social Change includes ten practices, each between one and ten minutes long. When you consistently engage in somatic practices such as these, centeredness can become your default state, even in the most challenging circumstances.

I’ll teach you how to integrate these practices into your days, and when you’re longing for extra support, you can always turn on a video and receive guidance from me.

There are so many expensive offerings out there. It’s important to me that you are able to access free, simple support to experience more strength, ease, resilience, and joy as you do your important work. I hope you’ll give yourself this gift.
